High School Sailing Team-Spring 2022

**REGISTER ONLINE for GRADES 9-12
SPRING SESSION: April 25th - June 10th, 2022
Sessions run Mondays & Fridays, 4-6:30pm
except Fri. May 27th and Mon. May 30th – Memorial Day Weekend
COURSE DESCRIPTION: High school aged sailors of all levels are encouraged to join us to learn to sail and improve their skills. The emphasis this spring will be on safety (as always), fun, and learning.
SUNY Maritime College provides everything needed to participate at one of the best waterfront facilities in the country including sailboats (420s, FJs and keelboats), coaches, safety boats, and life jackets. High School Sailing is co-ed and open to both individuals and teams. Sailors from multiple schools will be combined based on skill level and have an opportunity to sail with and learn from different partners.
WHAT TO EXPECT: High School Sailing is run like an after-school sport. Monday and Friday practices are led by coaches and Waterfront staff and consist of briefings, drills, games, and racing on the water. Practice is sailed primarily in dinghies (420s and FJs) and is complemented by keelboats (IC24s, J105) and catamarans (Hobie Waves). Sailors of all abilities come from different schools to practice together. With a low coach-to-sailor ratio, all participants will develop their skills and take their sailing to a higher level.
SKILL LEVEL: All skill levels
AGES: 9th-12th grade
For a packing list, please refer to 2022 - High School Sailing - Spring Gear List
LOCATION: McMurray Hall, SUNY Maritime College, 6 Pennyfield Avenue, Bronx, NY 10465. Bus: Bx40, BxM9; parking available.
